Jeevasamadhis in Puducherry
Sri Chitramuthu Adigalar Swami

In the year 1947, Chitramuthu Adigalar arrived at Kambalikaran Kuppam village along with his devoted disciple, Arul Prakasa Swamigal. At that time, Arul Prakasa Swamigal served as a teacher in a traditional Thinnai (Pial) School, a system of learning that had existed in India long before the colonial period.
The Village Begins to Change
When Chitramuthu Adigalar first began visiting the village, most of the residents were non-vegetarians. Through his regular visits and spiritual guidance, he gradually inspired many villagers to adopt a vegetarian way of life. He also introduced them to the practices of yoga and meditation. From around 1948 onwards, the people of Kambalikaran Kuppam began to sincerely follow his teachings and guidance.
A Sacred Place of Yoga and Meditation
Born in 1900, Chitramuthu Adigalar devoted his life to spiritual upliftment and human transformation. Whenever he visited the village, he stayed in a secluded room that later became a sacred place for his followers. Guruji did meditation there for 40 days. In 1951, this site was formally established as a spiritual center.
Siddha’s Message of a Higher Purpose
His teachings emphasized that the purpose of human life is beyond simply being born and dying, but to attain a higher divine state. He believed that every individual should strive for self-transformation and become a complete human being. To achieve this, he encouraged people to maintain good physical health through yoga, cultivate inner peace through meditation, and practice compassion by helping the poor and those in need.
Jeeva Samadhi
Chitramuthu Adigalar attained Jeeva Samadhi at Panakudi, Ramanad district, Tamil Nadu in 1995, leaving behind a lasting legacy of wisdom and service.
A Legacy That Lives On
The villagers embraced these ideals wholeheartedly. Over the decades, they continued to follow Swamiji’s guidance with dedication and faith. Even today, the people of Kambalikaran Kuppam wake up early, around 5:00 a.m., to practice yoga asanas and meditation according to their abilities. This disciplined lifestyle has been preserved and passed down through generations.

The Fourth Generation of Followers
Today, the village is said to represent the fourth generation of followers who continue to uphold and live by the teachings of Chitramuthu Adigalar. His influence remains deeply rooted in the community, serving as a remarkable example of how one spiritual teacher transformed an entire village through wisdom, discipline, and compassion.
