Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal, whose original name was Vasavanan, was a devoted disciple of Thiruvannamalai Isanya Jnana Desika Swamigal. From a young age, he showed a deep interest in spiritual wisdom and the path of yoga.

Years of Intense Training

Seeking higher knowledge, Vasavanan joined a Gurukul where he underwent rigorous spiritual training. He mastered yoga, occult practices, and advanced yogic techniques. His training lasted for 27 years, during which he dedicated himself to discipline, meditation, and self-realization.

The Gurukul followed a strict tradition. Every year, only two students who demonstrated exceptional mastery of yogic practices were selected, tested, and sent out to serve humanity. Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal was among those who excelled in this demanding path.

A Wandering Siddhar

After completing his training, Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal traveled extensively. He engaged in many mystical and occult practices and never stayed in one place for long. His spiritual journey took him across many regions, where he spread wisdom and guided seekers.

Final Settlement and Samadhi

Eventually, he arrived at the place where he chose to spend the final years of his earthly life. There, he settled and later attained Samadhi, entering the eternal state of spiritual union.

Establishment of the Samadhi Shrine

To establish his Samadhi according to Siddha traditions, permission was required from the Gurukul. Seven distinguished spiritual practitioners were sent to conduct the sacred rituals. Among them was Kambli Samiyar, a devoted disciple of Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal. Together, they performed the ceremonies that consecrated the Samadhi and preserved his spiritual legacy.

There is an inscription written behind the Statue in old Tamil. It is believed that the inscription was written by the Guru of Swami Linga Janana Desika.

Guru Pooja Anniversary

This year marks the 173rd anniversary of Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal. Special Pujas are done on Thursdays and Saturdays. On special days, people bring food from their home, Offer to God, and then distribute among themselves and eat as Prasadam. Pundit ji gives food to everyone, but he eats food only cooked by himself; it is the tradition of Samadhi temple.

Devotees and followers gather to honor his life, teachings, and spiritual accomplishments. The celebration serves as a reminder of his dedication, yogic mastery, and lasting contribution to the Siddha tradition.

Legacy

It is believed that all the prayers are listened to and fulfilled there. There are lots of stories related to the fulfilment of people’s wishes. All devotees who visit there have their own stories and deep faith.

Linga Jnana Desika Swamigal’s life stands as an inspiring example of perseverance, spiritual discipline, and divine realization. His Samadhi remains a sacred place where devotees seek blessings, guidance, and inner peace.
