Sri Aurobindo Society was founded in 1960 by the Mother “to make known to the members and people in general the aims and ideals of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, their system of Integral Yoga, and to work for its fulfilment in all possible ways and for the attainment of a spiritual society as envisaged by Sri Aurobindo.”

The Society is an international organization, recognised by the Government of India as a charitable and research institute. The Society strives for a new world order based on spirituality, and has the following specific objectives:

• The integral growth and perfection of the individual and the establishment of an environment conducive to this end
• Social transformation through the dynamic application of spirituality in all fields of human endeavour, at both the individual and the collective levels
• A united and awakened India
• The realisation of human unity in a harmonious and organised diversity, where each nation will become conscious of its true genius and will offer its best for humanity.
• Since the aim of the Society is to live integrally the truth that will transform the whole of life, nothing is excluded from its comprehensive programme. Each legitimate aspect of life is to be raised to its highest possibility under the direct touch and guidance of a higher Consciousness by invoking

It in all our endeavours. This dynamic application of spirituality to life is reflected in the Society’s motto as given by the Mother:

To know is good, to live is better, to be, that is  is perfect.

Centres & Branches

Centres and Branches of the Society are primarily meant to be centres of sadhana, of service to the Divine. Such service can express itself in various forms – seminars, conferences, group studies and discussions, exhibitions and cultural programmes, educational workshops, youth camps, health and research programmes, handicrafts, art classes, and other group activities.

Some of the Centres run schools, farms and cottage industries which they are striving to base on deeper values. What is important is not the activity in itself, but the spirit in which it is undertaken, as an offering to the Divine.

AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society strives to rediscover the genius and outstanding magnificence of Indian culture and works to apply it dynamically to life and all its activities in the building of a new India. It aspires to evoke among the youth a great love for India, pride in their heritage and an aspiration and will to create an even greater future.

Our Vision & Mission

• To work towards generating a love for Mother India and to develop a deeper understanding of her culture including religion, philosophy, literature, arts, ethics, sciences her social and political ethos based on her high values, ideals and aspirations.
• To research and prepare all types of inspiring resource materials and to organize various types of programmes, making use of the latest technology, which can be taken to individuals and institutions nationally and globally, including students, youth, adults, and various teaching and learning institutions.
• To work for the propagation of Sanskrit as a language of consciousness and the ancient scriptures as a treasure-house of the riches in Indian culture.
• To work for the unity and greatness of India so that it can give its best and play its true role in the world, as a leader in the ways of the Spirit and a friend and helper of all the peoples.
• To protect, preserve and conserve the national heritage of India with special emphasis on tangible and intangible cultural heritage based on cultural interactions and an effective system of networking.

A notable initiative within the Society is AuroBharati, which aims to rediscover and celebrate the brilliance and richness of Indian culture, actively integrating it into contemporary life and endeavors to foster the development of a new India in the light of    Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

Our efforts are directed towards cultivating a deep appreciation for Mother India and enhancing the understanding of her diverse cultural expressions, as well as the cultural unity of India and its global relationships, all aimed at fostering a sustainable society through institutional collaboration, qualitative research, publications, and outreach initiatives.
