The Sri Aurobindo Society has launched a landmark global mission to safeguard Siddha heritage through International Conclaves, a Digital Knowledge Portal on “Siddha Tradition of Puducherry,” Collaboration with World Siddha Forum and the establishment of the Global Siddha Heritage Research Network. Initiated by AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, the project seeks to strengthen research, documentation, and global collaboration to preserve and promote Siddha traditions in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s vision for spiritual evolution and sustainable health.

Major Project: The Siddha Tradition of Puducherry: A Study on Its Philosophical Foundations, Cultural Practices, and Digital Documentation

A Major Project initiated by AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society “The Siddha Tradition of Puducherry: A Study on Its Philosophical Foundations, Cultural Practices, and Digital Documentation” focussed on the documention of the lives and legacies of Siddhars in  and around Puducherry, to explore Siddha heritage through archaeological, literary for dissemination of knowledge and promotion of awareness on Siddha medicine, spirituality, and heritage tourism. The project was headed by Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society who has a vision to promote Sri Aurobindo’s vision of India’s spiritual traditions as humanity’s evolving consciousness, inspired by Adi Shiva and Siddhar Agathiyar’s contributions. The project was implemented by Mrs. Charu Tripathy, Principal Investigator of the project and Associate Director, AuroBharati whose emphasis to preserve the Siddha heritage as an ancient tradition integrating medicine, spirituality, and healing.

Creation of a Digital Portal on “Siddha Tradition of Puducherry.”

This project adopts a qualitative research approach to ensure in-depth understanding and documentation of Siddha traditions. The methodology includes:  Collection of data from archaeological records, historical texts, and manuscripts – Documentation of oral histories and living traditions, Field visits to Siddha heritage sites and Jeeva Samadhi locations, Development of digital content for wider accessibility and Design and implementation of a web portal to present research findings. The web portal serves as a central repository of information and is designed to make Siddha heritage accessible to researchers, students, and the general public. The project has successfully initiated the design and development of a web portal with a user-friendly interface. The portal integrates modern web functionalities to ensure easy navigation, accessibility, and scalability.

Global Siddha Heritage Research Network: 

The initiative, organised by AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, seeks to strengthen research, documentation and international collaboration on Siddha heritage—one of India’s oldest systems of traditional medicine, philosophy and spiritual practice. The Sri Aurobindo Society announced that, through the Global Siddha Heritage Research Network, it will promote collaboration among national and international institutions engaged in Siddha studies.

International Collaboration and Outreach:

The Sri Aurobindo Society joined hands for the creation of The World Siddha Forum with support from AYUSH, TDU, Department of AYUSH, Government of Puducherry and CCRS. It convened scholars and practitioners to globalize Siddha medicine, strengthen research and education, and promote its relevance in modern healthcare and sustainable, holistic living across the world.The World Siddha Forum inception meeting held at Sri Aurobindo Society and with a major events World Siddha Day Celebration 2026 (Dubai): The World Siddha Day Celebration in Dubai, themed “Siddha for Global Health,” emphasized holistic well-being integrating body, mind, and spirit.

Research Programs

The Sri Aurobinso Society has taken serious steps in promoting the Legacy of Siddha heritage by creating international conclaves, including ‘Siddhas: Mystic Cults, Symbolism and Spiritual Significances (December 2023)’ A two-day international conference examining the spiritual and cultural dimensions of Siddha traditions, ‘Rsi Agastya, Sri Aurobindo and the Vedic Tradition (December 2024)’, Commemorated the 8th Siddha Day highlighting public health connections to Rishi Agastya’s legacy.

Taking this initiative forward, The Sri Aurobindo Society (SAS) will organize a Global conclave on “Preserving Siddha Traditions of Puducherry: Heritage, Symbolism and Community Collaboration” on 5th August, 2026 further strengthens awareness. The conclave will bring together religious leaders, Siddha practitioners, heritage experts, policymakers, researchers and representatives of academic institutions and government agencies.

AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society will undertake further initiatives in partnership with national and international organisations to promote digital preservation, research and wider dissemination of Siddha knowledge. These efforts seek to ensure that the timeless wisdom of the Siddha tradition continues to inspire spiritual growth, holistic wellbeing and sustainable approaches to health.
